For anyone who feels that they have stumbled into a deep rut in life or who wants to reach their full potential, this book is for you. Jen Sincero’s bestseller self-help book introduces the law of attraction from a modern angle, providing clear steps and actions to take to help you create the life you want.

After reading The Secret, a classic law of attraction book, I was worried that You Are A Badass would follow a similar structure and be quite flat. However, I was delightfully surprised as Sincero’s witty voice and humorous, though sometimes shocking, personal anecdotes are what makes this book so unique and gives it momentum. At the start of almost every chapter, accompanied with inspiring quotes from various successful people in history, Sincero lets in on an interesting experience of hers. The most unforgettable for me, was her her encounter with a man in a loincloth in the desert. It is fascinating to see how she successfully relates such experiences to the law of attraction and also transforms them into meaningful life lessons.

Undoubtedly, You Are A Badass is an easy yet entertaining read. Sincero lays out clearly, with various fonts, what steps need to be taken in order to improve a certain area of your life, such as attracting money. She also includes examples of relatable thought processes and behaviours that often prevent us from succeeding and getting what we truly want. Through Sincero’s motivating and uplifting tone, she coaches us through these unhelpful thoughts and how to rewrite them and transform them into positive beliefs. This book definitely changed my perspective and outlook of the world.

Where Sincero is thorough in her knowledge and advice, there is some repetition of her points (minus her deliberate ‘Love yourself’ instruction, of course). However, the overlap of her ideas was not too obvious, and I did not mind it as it actually reminded me of what action to take and helped instil this.

If you are determined to live the life of your dreams, and are open-minded to obtaining it in any way, I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait to read Sincero’s second book – her distinctive witty prose is certainly addictive!
